Performance Nutrition

JHT Performance has the knowledge and understanding of how food and hydration can impact specific training, competition and athletic performance goals.

ATHLETE FOCUSED, PERSON CENTERED & RESEARCH INFORMED

Work with JHT Performance to support your development and build a nutrition strategy that will enhance your training adaptations. If you want to increase your time to fatigue on the pitch, it isn’t just an S&C endurance training programme that you need. If you have no idea how to fuel your muscles to provide you with the energy you need to perform – covering >11K on match day, as an example – more training isn’t going to be the solution.

Specific, research informed nutrition strategies support training adaptations and have been demonstrated time and time again to increase time to fatigue in intermittent team sport environments. Dialling in your nutrition and working with a qualified Performance Nutritionist improves your performance, readiness to perform, reduces the likelihood of injury and improves your overall health and well-being. Ignoring nutrition as a pro athlete (or if you’re on the path to becoming a professional athlete) will leave you not being able to achieve, and exceed, your potential.

Bespoke to you

Every individual is presented with different environments, tastes, preferences, lifestyles and possess different skills when it comes to the kitchen. Some people love cooking, but have no idea of what to cook or when to meet their training and competition goals – this could be due to not having any idea how to read food labels and translate that information to the plate of food your building for meal times. It could be that you have no idea what a ‘good’ snack looks like for your aims and training objectives. These are just a few examples of barriers to nutrition intake I have worked with, with individuals. Everyone is different – you must work with someone who has the skills to understand that, and flex their skills to allow you to get what you need from their support.

Contact JHT now to jump on a discovery call to see if we would be a good fit to work together.

Just tell me what to eat, I don’t care about the science.

This type of approach doesn’t serve anyone to any benefit. If you decide you would like to work with JHT it would be best if it is from a place of curiosity and a willingness to work together to determine your goals and objectives through the process.

This is not a reductionist approach. At JHT we will not ‘tell you what to eat’. This is often a misguided approach that leads to poor, destructive relationships with food and nutrition. We will work together to identify what habits you have around food and nutrition, as well as training and competition, to discover what you do around food preparation, look at why you take that approach and then work together to decide if there are any improvements that could be made in an area that will bring a performance benefit. We work together to understand your approach to nutrition currently and why you feel that is the way it is, and then clearly map out areas that would be easier for you to approach to begin with.

I am not here to ‘tell you what to eat’.

I am here to work with you to understand your habits, build new habits into your routine and highlight ‘blind spots’ around your preparation and recovery pre and post competition to ensure you minimise your likelihood of injury, illness and improve energy levels and performance during competition. Along the journey there are options to improve your knowledge and understanding of your own physiology and use this to support your progress.

Testimonials

What clients are saying

"With Jodie’s support, I’ve also managed to improve my performance, my strength and fitness, my general energy levels, and my mood! It has positively affected every aspect of my life, not just in my sport but within my day-to-day life too. Even in the preparations for my first competition back with her strategy, support, and plan, I was able to ‘make weight’ and still train to my full potential, I felt strong and healthy and more energetic than I would normally feel whilst ‘making weight’ for a competition"

How can JHT Performance support you?

JHT Performance can work with you to de-mystify nutrition. With a world full of social media ‘influencers’ and no shortage of ‘bro-science’ articles and advice that comes from no scientific literature and makes its way into our daily practice, it’s easy to see how nutrition is one of the most flawed topics on the internet.

At JHT we are passionate about integrity of information and understand the scope of the limitations of practice. As a qualified nutritionist I have to know my limitations and have referral networks set up with other specialists in the high performance domain that I am able to refer in to, should it be appropriate. This will always be discussed with the individual and no expectation will be made that you undertake the recommendations I make.

JHT supports the individual first and the athlete second. Understanding that if the individual isn’t operating at their best, the athlete won’t perform either. The complexities of supporting professional athletes are ten-fold. It is especially important that when seeking advice around nutrition, you get this from a verified and qualified source or individual with relevant academic qualifications- and insurance – to provide that knowledge.
